BATON ROUGE, LA – Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry today announced the arrests of three people on multiple counts of Medicaid Fraud, and he encouraged the public to report welfare fraud to his office.

“While my office works diligently to root out Medicaid welfare fraud, waste, and abuse – we encourage the public to assist us in these critical efforts,” encouraged General Landry. “If you know of people using the Medicaid program to take money, services, or drugs to which they are not entitled – please report it to our office.”

Kevin Washington, 45 of Shreveport, was arrested on one count of Filing/Maintaining False Public Records and one count of Medicaid Fraud. He allegedly provided false and fraudulent claims for services and allegedly fabricated and altered the insurance claim date of damage before submitting it to be filed in public records.

Charetta Ellis, 49 of Baton Rouge, was arrested on one count of Filing/Maintaining False Public Records and one count of Medicaid fraud. She allegedly submitted progress notes for services not rendered.

Carl Bell, 52 of Ponchatoula, was arrested on two counts of Medicaid fraud for allegedly submitting time sheets for services not rendered. 

All three alleged fraudsters were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison following investigations by General Landry’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.
